I've gotten a lot of questions about where I got the name "TrappedKitten" and tons of jokes about it. I usually just make up random stories for fun. Sometimes involving saving kittens or being trapped by chains and handcuffs. I've had the name for over a year, maybe it's time to talk about the reasoning behind it.
I'm not exactly sure how I thought of it, but I know why. I needed a fun name for a character on a PVP realm on WoW. Came up with TrappedKitty. Kitten has always been one of my nicknames, because I'm pretty much a cat and have an awesome purr.
However, the reason why I kept it was different. It grew into having a meaning beyond just being a kitten. How am I trapped? Well, that's simple: by my anxiety. It still controls me and until I can break free, I'm trapped by myself.
Another meaning behind kitten is that when I'm feeling lame, I'll call myself ascaredy-cat. If you have talked to me when I'm feeling bad about my social phobia, this is how I refer to myself.
That's why I kept it, because it fits with who I am. Why do you go by your online name? Where did you come up with it?
